Getting started
From download to your first recording. The in-app guide matches these steps.
Download the Apple Silicon preview
Free preview for Apple Silicon Macs. Enter your email to start the download. This build is not signed yet, so macOS will ask you to confirm it the first time you open it.
AgentTape includes FFmpeg under the LGPL 2.1 or later. Download the exact source.
- Download AgentTape and drag it to Applications. Open the installed copy, not the file inside the disk image.
- Make your first recording. The app checks local tools and shows that recordings save to ~/Tape. Screen, speech, and on-screen text stay on this Mac.
- Choose what to capture. Allow Screen Recording. Allow the microphone, or continue without voice.
- Try the controls. Tap Option+Command to open the picker. Double-tap repeats the last valid selection. Tap while recording stops. Esc saves. Practice does not record.
- Record a quick test around the Save draft sample. Stop with the large red control. Then copy recording context, or choose Connect your agent to AgentTape. Copied instructions are not a connection.
If macOS blocks the app
This release is not signed or notarized. First try to open AgentTape. Then open System Settings, choose Privacy & Security, scroll to Security, and click Open Anyway. Enter your Mac password and confirm Open. The button is available for about an hour after the blocked launch attempt.
Grant Screen Recording, Microphone, and Accessibility to AgentTape. macOS may list TapeHotkey separately for the shortcut.
