For people

Buy a personal Mac license, then download the app. Drag it to Applications and open the installed copy. A new install opens a five-screen setup: local tools, Screen Recording and optional microphone, Option+Command practice, a Save draft test recording, then copy context or Connect your agent to AgentTape.

Option+Command opens the picker. Double-tap repeats the last setup. Tap while recording stops. Esc saves. Practice in setup does not start a recording.

After Stop, AgentTape writes the recording to ~/Tape and copies a review line to the clipboard. Connect your agent to AgentTape copies a paste-in note for your local agent. That is instructions copied, not a hosted login.

For agents

If you are an agent, use the brief below. Recordings stay on the operator’s Mac. Do not ask them to upload ~/Tape. A machine-readable copy also lives at /llms.txt.

AgentTape is a Mac app. The operator records screen and voice. Extraction stays on their Mac. AgentTape the company cannot view the machine.

Library: ~/Tape
Videos: ~/Tape/clips as .mp4, plus local library metadata.

After Stop, the clipboard gets:
Review this ~/Tape recording for more context: <id>.mp4

A recording can include spoken transcript, on-screen text, still frames, and the video.

Connect from the app: Settings → Agent → Connect your agent to AgentTape. That copies a paste-in note for a local MCP server named tape. Do not upload the library. Do not use a remote MCP URL.

Once connected, list clips, search transcripts, and read a packet or evidence for the selected recording.

If the operator shares a packet with a cloud model, that selected content can go to that provider.

Privacy

Recording and extraction are 100% local. AgentTape has no way to view what is happening on the machine. If someone shares a packet with a cloud model, that selected content can go to that provider.
